Welcome to our website. Our school offers students a caring and nurturing learning environment. Our dedicated and experienced teachers provide a positive and enriching program, appreciating the individual needs and interests of each child. For further details click "Read More".

Sport

The older students get many opportunities to participate in SAPSASA (SA Primary Sport Association SA) sport competing against other schools in the state. In 2016 we had representatives in soccer, athletics, cross country and basketball.

Arts and Culture

In 2016, we participated in Arts performances such as Splash Theatre, Aboriginal for a Day and 52nd Storey Treehouse. In 2017, we have planned a trip to Adelaide for the DREAM BIG festival. Stay posted for photos!

Authentic Learning

Our innovative Friday learning programme includes Authentic Learning. We explore a topic with teamwork, problem solving and hands on relevant experiences.

Camps

We hold camps for Reception to Year 7  in a variety of environments every odd year.

Integrated Learning

Year 6,7 team leaders teach on a different sustainability topics on a rotation basis for a term. We use our vegie garden, chooks, Nature Playground and classrooms to teach about sustainable practices. The leadership for older students helps them to develop essential skills for secondary learning.

FUN!

We plan regular activities just for fun, such as the Winter Party, Mexican night, Movie and discos.

Community

Our students organise fundraisers for both school needs and for contributions to significant causes in the community.

We work well in conjunction with the Mid Murray Council such as “Fun for Youth” and Mid Murray Family Connections.

Partnership

We are part of the Barossa Partnership, together with Nuri Children’s Centre, High School and Primary School; Tanunda PS and Kindy; Angaston PS and Kindy; Keyneton PS, Cambrai AS; Greenock Primary School. We have agreed partnership directions and often connect on Professional Development days.

Special Needs

Truro Primary School supports dyslexic, autistic and other students with Special Needs. In addition to DECD funding, our site provides additional funding for support.

Our Staff

Our teaching staff comprise of experienced long term teachers and currently a part-time graduate teacher. We undertake significant professional development to ensure the best possible practice for student learning.

Complementing the teaching staff, we employ three experienced SSO’s to support finance, administration and student support. We also have a mentoring programme running that supports students with wellbeing needs as well as a Pastoral Care Worker.

Parent Participation

Parents have opportunities to engage with the school in a range of ways from being on Governing Council, Parents and Friends, helping with the nature play development or supporting students in classrooms.

Curriculum

The school provides quality education in the eight areas of student according to the Australian Curriculum and Teaching for Effective Learning. Our language is provided via Open Access.

Facilities

Truro Primary School has a full sized gym which contains a full sized basketball court, an undercover tabled area, two tennis courts, library, five learning areas and an administration block. In addition, we have a vegetable and fruit garden and are establishing a Nature Playground as well as the community playground.

Playcentre

Each Friday morning we run a Playcentre for pre-school children. We are looking into establishing a Family Day Care before and after school care.
